Ready, set, sit back and watch!
The beaches on our barrier island offer prime viewing of NASA launches. Eager spectators set up their beach chairs along the shoreline and wait in anticipation as rockets blast off from Kennedy Space Center. Some of the best spots are on the south side of New Smyrna Beach, like Canaveral National Seashore. This park, which costs $10 per vehicle, fills quickly on launch days. Another favorite site is Bethune Beach, located at 6656 S. Atlantic Avenue. With free parking and easy access to restrooms, this locale is very family-friendly. No matter where you choose to watch the space center launches in New Smyrna Beach, be sure to bring along your camera or phone to capture it all.
