Film Permits

As one of the top tourist destinations in Florida, the New Smyrna Beach area attracts a wide range of individuals from across the globe. That diverse audience paired with industry-trained professionals and an array of picturesque locations provides the ideal backdrop for film, commercial and television production. With central access to major cities such as Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville, access to world-class production studios and soundstages are just a short drive away. The NSB Visitors Bureau will assist in connecting you with the appropriate organizations for your next film. The beauty of the pristine beaches within the Canaveral National Seashore has provided the location for a variety of films, commercials, and print advertisements. If you’re planning to do any filming or photography involving talent, products or props in front of a camera, you will need to obtain a filming permit. All permit applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and will not normally be issued for areas of high visitation or on weekends. We're here to help!

It's important to contact the film office prior to any filming activity as we require a film permit to be on file as well as a certificate of insurance. Please allow one week after the receipt of your completed permit application and insurance to obtain a permit for your production. To ensure a quick turnaround of your film permit, please:

  1. Fill out the application in detail, including dates and times, and be sure to sign.
  2. Fill out the Certificate of Insurance (COI) and list the County of Volusia as additionally insured.
  3. Send both documents to debbie@visitnsbfla.com
  4. We will review the documents for details and will submit your permit application to the proper authority.
  5. We appreciate having a minimum of two weeks to process.
  6. Any additional information on the shoot is most helpful and could eliminate many potential questions.
