Summer in New Smyrna Beach can be rather hot, and winter in New Smyrna Beach can be quite cold. Fall, on the other hand, boasts ideal temperatures ranging from 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. 

 

Explore the Outdoors

With these ideal weather conditions, fall in New Smyrna Beach is the perfect time to head out into nature. One of the most popular autumn activities in New Smyrna Beach is biking. There are loads of hiking trails scattered throughout this Florida city, including the Saxon Trail, the East Central Regional Rail Trail, and the Riverside Drive Trail. You can even bike on the packed sand of New Smyrna Beach!

But the best biking trail in New Smyrna Beach may be the Ponce Inlet Trail. This 3.5-mile trail follows the Atlantic coastline. Along the way, you’ll be able to soak up the sun and peek at the ocean. And when you reach the end, you’ll be rewarded with a few points of interest, including Lighthouse Point Park, Ponce Preserve, and Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse and Museum.

If you’d prefer to take to the water instead, you can do that in New Smyrna Beach as well. While the ocean and inland waterways may be quite chilly in the fall, you can still kayak and paddleboard, as those activities will you allow you to remain relatively dry. Luckily, New Smyrna Beach is packed with amazing kayaking and paddleboarding spots.

The Indian River to Smyrna Creek Paddle Trail is the most popular inland paddling spot in New Smyrna Beach, thanks to its calm conditions and natural beauty. But if you want to test your kayaking skills, take on the winding Callalisa Creek Paddle Trail. And if you’d like to catch a glimpse of the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse and Museum, head out on the Sleepy Hollow to Lighthouse Paddle Trail.

If biking, kayaking, and paddleboarding are too strenuous for you, don’t worry! There are other outdoor activities that you can do in the fall in New Smyrna Beach that are less active, like fishing. Head to Tiger Shoals, Spruce Creek, or Smyrna Dunes Park for the best fishing locations in town. While there, you’ll be able to catch everything from tarpon to mahi mahi to largemouth bass.

 

Experience the Local Events

While most visitors might not be around in the fall, the locals sure do know how to have fun – and you can certainly join them! Every autumn, New Smyrna Beach puts on quite a few local festivals and events.

In September, visitors can enjoy the Reel Deal Film Festival. This is an independent film festival where artists, nature lovers and community builders can enjoy worldwide submissions from 43 Countries and 46 States.

Every November, there’s the Flamingo Follies Art Show. This event boasts 120 vendors who sell their creative creations. While there, you can buy everything from handmade jewelry to beautiful paintings to glass-blown pieces.

On top of these special fall events, you can also enjoy the New Smyrna Beach events that run throughout the year. Every single Saturday, there’s the lovely New Smyrna Beach Farmers Market, where you can stock up on local goodies. You can purchase anything from fresh fruits to beautiful pottery to imported cheeses.

There’s also the monthly Flagler Avenue Wine Walk. On the fourth Saturday of every month, attendees can peruse over 100 wines and taste many of them. As an added bonus, you’ll also get to keep a commemorative glass as a cool souvenir, because it’ll definitely be a night worth remembering.
