If there’s one thing we know at New Smyrna Beach, it’s fresh, delicious seafood. Our rich dining scene is overflowing with delicious spots to slurp down oysters, crack a few crab legs, and, of course, feast on freshly caught shrimp. With National Shrimp Day just a few weeks away, we thought we would round up five of our favorite restaurants to indulge in this tasty crustacean.
Off the Hook
You can’t go wrong with a plate of delicious shrimp, sitting on the patio of Off the Hook. The casual eatery is known for serving a wide range of flavors and styles of shrimp, including finger-lickin’ good rock shrimp, a specialty here at NSB. These rock shrimp, named for their hard-as-a-rock outer shell, are broiled in garlic butter and seasoned with breadcrumbs.
Goodrich Seafood Restaurant and Oyster House
Goodrich Seafood Restaurant and Oyster House, located in the community of Oak Hill, is another beloved spot to find fresh rock shrimp and other delicacies. This quaint, locally-owned establishment offers beautiful waterfront views, and frequently has deals on its variety of shrimp offerings. Whether you prefer to try our signature rock shrimp or want to savor the sweet flavor of coconut-encrusted crustaceans, there are plenty of options to satisfy any craving.
JB’s Fish Camp
Located along the Canaveral National Seashore, JB’s Fish Camp is a popular spot for those with a flair for shrimp. The rock shrimp served at the restaurant area mouth-watering, and the atmosphere is unforgettable. Accessible by boat or land, this seaside dining establishment is ideal for those looking for a tasty way to accent the perfect NSB beach day. JB’s also offers kayak and paddleboard rentals onsite.
Norwood’s Restaurant and Treehouse Bar
If you’re looking for a true one-of-a-kind dining experience, Norwood’s Restaurant and Treehouse Bar should be high on your list. This local favorite, known for its scenic seating among the treetops, was started after owner Pamela asked her husband to build her the perfect treehouse to enjoy her nightly glass of wine. Their love of good wine and good atmosphere translated into a truly unique establishment that boasts world-class wines and plenty of delicious seafood, which includes plenty of tasty shrimp options.
Flagler Tavern
Another one of our can’t-miss spots for out-of-this-world shrimp is Flagler Tavern. Shuck, peel, and gorge on their half-pound order of steamed, wild-caught rock shrimp as you enjoy a delicious cocktail on one of the spacious patios. Step back in time by stopping in The Bounty, the immersive speakeasy that’s themed to the 1920s. Groove to local music while you soak in sunset views. No matter your vibe, you’re sure to have a good time at Flagler Tavern.
