Known for its abundance of locally owned restaurants, New Smyrna is most definitely a foodie’s paradise. From treehouse dining to tiki bar lounging, sampling the local flavors at our eateries is a must-do when visiting our barrier island on vacation. And since we’re all about those great eats and satisfying sips, we’ve put together a list of the some of the best NSB food souvenirs to pack in your suitcase and enjoy back home.
1. Candy from Beachside Candy Co.
From its trademark pink and mint exterior to the bins of multi-colored salt water taffy, Beachside Candy has been a bright spot on Flagler Avenue since 2006. Satisfy your sweet tooth by stopping into this NSB staple for a treat. We’d pick the chocolate palm tree. Or the chocolate dolphin. Or the peanut clusters. They’re all homemade and incredibly decadent.
2. Mosquito Lagoon Black Mangrove Honey from Sun Splash Nursery
This velvety nectar, with its floral bouquet, is harvested from right here in New Smyrna Beach. Sun Splash is the only nursery in Florida with a permit to access the remote interior islands of Mosquito Lagoon, where the world’s largest concentration of Black Mangrove exists and thrives as Florida’s number one nectar-producing flower.
Brew yourself a cup of Florida’s native tea. Brothers Bryon and Kyle White started this herbal tea company back in 2012, and now the antioxidant-rich beverage is sold across North America and the UK.
4. BBQ Sauce from Yellow Dog Eats
Add a little bang to your next barbecue with some of Yellow Dog Eats’ “Gold” Sauce. This Canal Street BBQ joint bottles up their sweet and tangy goodness so you can get a taste of NSB back home.
5. Fresh Fruit from Pell’s Citrus and Nursery
You can’t get more iconic Florida than fresh citrus. Stop by Pell’s in Osteen for a variety of juicy oranges, tangerines, and grapefruits.
6. Craft Beer from New Smyrna Beach Brewing Company
Tap into the good stuff. Get a growler full of your favorite lager, stout or ale from this Canal Street hotspot. For those who don’t imbibe, the Indian River Root Beer is a refreshing alternative.
7. Tupat’s Hawaiian Poke Sauce
Inspired by traditional Asian and Polynesian flavors, Tupat’s Poke Sauce is a delightful melody of all things sweet, salty and spicy. Not sure how to cook with it? Tupat’s website has recipes at the ready.
8. Treats from Belle’s Dog Bakery
We couldn’t forget about Fido, as we’re known for being a pet-friendly destination. Pop up to Port Orange for the Farmer’s Market at the Pavilion to get your paws on treats from Belle’s Dog Bakery. Locally made, these grain-free treats come in flavors like cheese, banana nut, and peanut butter. Jowls of joy are sure to ensue.
9. Sugar Works Distillery's New Smyrna Shine
Whisk up some fun with this hand-crafted, premium spirit. It might be called New Smyrna Moonshine, but it’s no secret that Sugar Works distills their boozy libations on site. Stop in to purchase a Mason jar full and take a tour of the whole operation.
We’ll let you in on a little secret. That spicy, mouthwatering flavor that is sprinkled across some of your favorite menu items at JB’s Fish Camp? It can be yours! The savory seasoning can be purchased right from their website.
